FADING POST ACNE MARKS SCARS

Post acne marks (macules, acne scars) are the flat red or brown dots left behind by pimples. Most of the time, post acne marks will go away on their own. However, for some people, it can take anywhere from three months to many years to disappear.
To treat these red marks you might use the following options
  • Exfoliation. Exfoliating helps fade your marks faster by shedding old skin and bringing new skin to the surface. Though exfoliation is one way to fade dark marks faster, be aware that these types of topical exfoliating products can cause irritation such as redness, peeling, and dryness.
  • Tretionoin, retinol. To get rid of red acne marks you can also consider using tretinoin/retinol products.
  • AHA (Alpha hydroxy acid). Try over-the-counter products with AHAs to fade old acne marks and to lighten skin.
  • Sunscreen. Sunscreen cosmetic protects your skin against pigmentation
